 Bambara Kanda Falls

Bambarakanda Falls, also known as Bambarakele Falls, is the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka, standing ata height of 263 meters (863 feet). It is the 461st highest waterfall in the world. The falls are located in Kalupahana, within the Badulla District, and are about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) away from the A4 Highway. Formed by the Kuda Oya, a tributary of the Walawe River, Bambarakanda Falls is surrounded by a forest of pine trees, creating a scenic and serene environment.


Location and getting there:

The easiest way to reach Bambarakanda falls is to take the A4 high way from Colombo and once you reach Kalupahana junction turn left and from the junction the waterfall is about 5KM. Roads are pretty good up to Kalupahana Junction and from there onwards road will become sort of an off-road drive. Even though roads are not well maintained most of the vehicles can drove up to the view point of the water fall.


Weather 

Rain is expected through out the year in this area. Tempreture is in mid 20C and humudity will be high due to the forest that covers the area.


Activites that are possible to do in this area

01. Trekking in the forest area and summit the water fall.

    Trekking will be the main activity that anyone can experience when you visit this place. lush forest and mountains are a feast for nature lovers. if you are an experience climber you will be able to climb up to the top of the water fall and get a birds eye view of the area. 

02. Camping

    this is a heavenly area for campers who admire the nature. you will be able to experience a total off the grid life in here.

03. Flora and Fauna

    This is a national park and a wild life reserve. This means this area is a paradise for wild life lovers and also for photographers. you will be able to see leopards and other wild animals. Number of birds species are uncountable in this part of Sri Lanka. 

04. Off Road Experience

    This area has some roads which are very suitable to get an off-road driving experience. If you an off-road driving enthusiast this is must try out place for you.
